Deutsche Leasing AG was founded as the first leasing company in Düsseldorf in 1962. The idea of placing funds in use rather than ownership originated in the USA.
Deutsche Leasing AG, as you know it today, arose in 1971. At the time, three independent companies (Deutsche Leasing GmbH, Maschinen Miete GmbH, Mietdienst GmbH) merged into Deutsche Leasing AG and became a company of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe.
Initially, ten central savings banks and two large savings banks held all the shares in Deutsche Leasing AG, these passed to about 50 savings banks on 1.10.98. This strengthened the position of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe in corporate business, and it has persistently followed its strategy of bundling forces.
